Fowler Sea Dragons

We are a competitive summer swim team, for kids, located in Fowler California.  We are a part of the Central Valley Recreational Swim League(CVRSL).  Our meets are in June and July, with practice through the rest of the year for those that are interested.  

Fall practice starts in early August and ends the end of October.  Practice will be most week days, depending on the coaches availability.  The cost is fifty dollars per swimmer for the fall practice session.

We will focus on mainly on technique. This will include the four competitive strokes, starts and turns. We will work on pacing and using a clock for interval training. This is NOT swim lessons, so swimmers need to be able to swim in water over their head.

The Fowler Sea Dragons is a summer competitive swim team. We swim at Fowler High School. Our age groups are 6 & Under, 8 & Under, 9 - 10, 11 - 12, 13 - 14 and 15 - 18. The age-up date is June 1st. So as long as an athlete is 18 or younger on June 1st, they are eligible to join the team. 

The season begins with practice starting in mid May(18th), Our first meet is the week after school starts(June 9th) and ends in early to mid July. Meets are typically on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Most meets start at 6:00 or 6:30. Some meets are on Saturdays and start in the morning. You do not need to attend all meets, after all it is your summer vacation. Check the Meet Schedule for a complete listing and start times. 

Not swim lessons. 

Since this is a competitive swim team, they do need to know how to swim. They need to be able to swim unassisted and without a flotation device. We will teach them to swim better and faster, but this is not a learn-to-swim program(beginner lessons). We have had a few swimmers as young as 3 years old on the team, but they could swim unassisted. We concentrate on the four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, starts(diving) and turns(for 11 and older). We start with freestyle and backstroke. 

The cost is $125 for the first swimmer, $115 for the second and $105 for each additional swimmer. There is a returnable $100 "volunteer" fee per family. Volunteer 5 times and your fee will be returned.
